Water Pollution - Features
Water pollution is the contamination of water sources with harmful materials such as pesticides, lead, arsenic, and polychlorinated biphenyls. These can have serious effects on the health of the environment and humans. The pollutant arsenic is used in paints, dyes, metals, drugs, soaps, fertilizers, and pesticides. It enters drinking water by erosion of natural deposits, runoff from glass, electronic production waste, and improperly disposed of waste. In addition, lead can be found in plumbing materials and water service lines further contaminating the water we utilize.
