Land Pollution - Environmental Impact
Land pollution leads to waste accumulation, which lessons the quality of the soil and water in the surrounding area and causes environmental and health problems. When materials such as plastics, papers, and metals are discarded instead recycled, they become hazards to animal life or end up taking up space in landfills which should be reserved for materials that can not be reused. In addition, pollutants from agricultural animal waste, herbicide, and pesticide toxins can have many effects upon people and animals. They can wash into water sources such as reservoirs and river, which can lead to the toxins getting into people’s bodies, either by direct contact through the skin or by breathing in particles. Some pollutants can get into humans systems by eating food that was grown in polluted soil. Skin problems, respiratory problems, and cancers can be caused by land pollutants.
